MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Uncedo Taxi Association in Mossel Bay formed a taxi convoy this morning, Thursday 23 July, in remembrance of one of its members, Nceba Nkebetwana (48), following his passing on 19 July.
Nkebetwana was originally from Eluhewini, Engcobo, in the Eastern Cape, but had been living in Mossel Bay since 2003.
He joined the Uncedo Taxi Association in 2023 and was the proud owner of two taxis he had bought in 2024 and 2025.
His daughter, Asemahle, described him as a kind-hearted, caring and family-oriented person, who would go out of his way to help others.
“I will miss being checked up on every Sunday after he had a long day,” she says.
“We had video calls with my mother, Khululwa, every time he was working outside of Mossel Bay. He comforted her in every situation; if she was crying, he would cry with her. Something he always said to her was, ‘It’s not always a happy place on Earth.’”
A memorial service will be held at the KwaNonqaba Community Hall in KwaNonqaba, Mossel Bay, at 18:00 this evening. His funeral service will take place in Eluhewini on 1 August.
