MOSSEL BAY NEWS - All traffic and law enforcement officers available will be utilised and will be assisted with additional contracted security guards at the Blue Flag as well as some of the other beaches in the greater Mossel Bay area during the festive season.
There will also be beach guards that patrol a number of beaches. On the notorious Blue Waters beach close to Dias Beach, security patrols will take place daily from 06:00 until 18:00.
Neighbourhood watches and community policing forums as well as the SAPS also work closely with the municipality with regards to community safety.
Point patrols will take place from 14 December until 6 January from 10:00 to 18:00 daily, at all of these beaches as well as at Boggombaai, Dana Bay, Blue Waters (Dias) and Glentana beaches.
Patrols will take place on 31 December and 1 January from 19:00 to 24:00 in the Tergniet / Fraaiuitsig area, Santos Beach and Little Brak River.
Point controls will also be held at the entrances to Santos and De Bakke beach, as well as on Majuba Street (corner of Paardekraal and Port Natal avenues) on 31 December from 19:00 to 24:00. For the first time horse patrols will be conducted on Saturdays between Santos Beach and De Bakke and the police will be patrolling on quad bikes.
