MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay performers and artists did exceptionally well in the Allegretto Inter Provincial Eisteddfod.
The adjudication took place in Mossel Bay on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week, 21 to 23 April. As, A pluses and Prestige certificates abounded.
Actors, musicians and visual artists took part. Participants included members of Alta's Drama Studio, Karli Stamhuis' art school, Lelane van der Merwe's music studio Hartsnare, and Lighthouse Academy.
Many of the students will go through to the national eisteddfod.
A gala function takes place in Mossel Bay on 9 September. With regards to the visual artists, it was the first time in 30 years that all the participants from an art studio will go through to the final round - the nationals - of the eisteddfod.

Van der Merwe said: "It was a very inspiring experience for everyone and everyone did very well, for which I give the Lord all the honour. It serves as good preparation for the Trinity exams for the students."
She focuses on violin, cello and a little ukelele and marimba in her studio. Besides the Hartsnare students, there were also piano players and "brilliant" guitar players, she said.
