MOSSEL BAY NEWS  -  Members of the public and businesses are asked to support the Hairdresser of the Year competition in aid of a special needs centre.

The proceeds from the gala event for the competition will go to the Up With Downs centre for children. 

It is based in George, but a number of children from Mossel Bay are assisted there.

Tickets are available for the gala event of Hairdresser of the Year, which is on Saturday, 22 October, at 18:00 for 18:30 at the Laminin Agora venue near Hartenbos.

The dress is formal. Tickets are R500 per person and include a three-course meal.

Up With Down's does not receive a government subsidy and school fees are insufficient to cover operating costs.

The centre is grateful for any donations.

Supporters can look forward to the following at the event: a string ensemble, performance by Up With Down's, lucky draws, auction of paintings by well-known artists, DJ and live performances and a dance after the prize giving.

The audience will vote for its favourite hairdresser, who will do hair and dress according to the theme, Recycling Fantasy.

Hairdressers from Mossel Bay and George have entered.
