MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Today, 15 June is World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day. In previous years, local senior citizens congregated at ACVV Kenani to commemorate this day, shared experiences and became empowered regarding their rights.
Due to Covid-19, a small group of women, sharing a house at Kenani, still made their statement against abuse by wearing purple and lighting candles.
According to a spokesperson at the centre, these women, Pauline Kommer,Elize Gruen,Philla Smith,Bella Peens and Dina Bezuidenhout feel strongly about their rights as the elderly.
