MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Eden District Municipality municipal manager, Monde Stratu, has been elected president of the Institute for Local Government Management in South Africa (ILGM).
It is a professional body which represents municipal managers (Section 56 and 57) in South Africa.
Eden District Municipality executive mayor, Councillor Memory Booysen, said: "It is a major achievement and privilege for Eden District Municipality to be home to a municipal manager officer who wears the crown of president of an institution that represents many of the municipal managers in South Africa.
"We are very proud of Mr Stratu."
A municipal manager has a key role in ensuring a municipality functions effectively. Currently, there are about 230 municipal managers in South Africa.
Newly-elected president of the Institute for Local Government Management in South Africa, Monde Stratu, is municipal manager of the Eden District Municipality.
