GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT NEWS - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a level 2 warning of severe rain for the coastal municipal areas of the Garden Route as from tomorrow, Thursday 19 August.
A cold front is expected to bring rain and showers, intensifying during the day over the municipal areas of George, Knysna, Bitou, Hessequa and Mossel Bay.
Localised flooding of susceptible formal/informal settlements and roads may occur.
The SAWS warns that accidents could occur because of slippery roads and difficult driving conditions on dirt roads. People are advised to be cautious, especially at night when it is difficult to recognise difficult driving conditions.
Rain of between 15 - 30 mm is predicted and up to 45 mm in mountainous areas.
