MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Advertiser enquired with Brian Singer, CEO of the Singer Group, about when the De Bakke Santos resort in town would reopen.
Singer said: "We were extremely relieved when the president announced that from 18 August the borders between provinces would be opened and interprovincial travel, for leisure, would be allowed.
"Until then only business travel between provinces was allowed, which meant that our leisure resort at De Bakke Santos remained closed.
"With this good news we have now started preparing the resort to welcome our first visitors, which will be in the next few weeks, and well before the December season.
"We have been advised that there will be no limitations on capacity and we will be able to accommodate our usual number of guests. Being outdoors is the safest way to stay clear of Covid-19 and De Bakke Santos offers outdoor living in every respect."
Singer went on to explain: "Our main aim during the lockdown period was to save as many jobs as possible at De Bakke Santos and, if possible, not retrench anybody during the five months that De Bakke has been closed.
"I am happy to say that everyone is still employed and has a job to come back to. I am aware that this is not the case for many others in the hospitality industry and I am grateful we were able to keep going.
"Special thanks to our general manager Chris Viljoen, who worked very hard during the lockdown period on the upkeep of the resort and putting in place all the sanitising and other necessary measures required for staff and guests in terms of the Covid-19 regulations.
"We hope that once our guests arrive they can put the stresses of lockdown behind them and enjoy the relaxation and peace that De Bakke Santos has to offer."
