MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 53-year-old CIT guard for an ATM cash service company, Xolani Njokweni, allegedly stole R20 000 from an ATM at Langeberg Mall earlier this year, and made an appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday 20 April.
A Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, said the theft occurred while the bank’s cash-in-transit service provider was loading some money into an ATM at the mall between 08:45 and 09:07 on 31 January.
Njokweni was arrested in George and then transferred to the Da Gamaskop Police Station. The case against him was also initially registered in George, but transferred to Da Gamaskop last Friday, 17 April, for his appearance on Monday.
He was released on R2 000 bail, and the matter was postponed to 28 May.
