MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay's Community Police Forum (CPF) and the related neighbourhood watch groups have had numerous successes with the implementation of the Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) and overview cameras installed in a number of strategic spots in the greater central business district.
These cameras are privately funded for use by the various neighbourhood watch groups.
Recently the executive management of the Mossel Bay Municipality paid a visit to the control room to where images from the various cameras are relayed and acted upon, when necessary.
This followed a highly successful visit earlier in June to the control room in Cape Town, where valuable advice and ideas were garnered for the Mossel Bay project.
The chairman of the Mossel Bay (CPF), Leon van Dyk, again thanked the members of the participating neighbourhood watch groups for their selfless sacrifices, dedication, effort and hard work to rid the area of crime.
In June a delegation visited a control room in the City of Cape Town and valuable information was garnered.
