MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The occurrence of several burglaries at residential properties and business premises in Hartenbos and Voorbaai during the past two weeks, are a source of concern.
Items to the value of R20 000 were stolen at JJ Marine in Via Appie Street during a break in. The previous Saturday, 10 May at approximately 04:00, catering equipment and cooking utensils were stolen during a break in at the Sikh temple on the same street.
In Hartenbos, residential properties mostly used as holiday homes in Boomplaats Avenue and Nooitgedagt Lane were broken into.
Members of the Da Gamaskop police apprehended one suspect in the area who had stolen goods in his possession. Popular items that are stolen includes linen, alcohol and flat screen televisions.
“We urge the community to remain vigilant. According to the national lockdown, the neighbourhood watch is still not operational. This means that it is imperative to be on the lookout for suspicious looking people or vehicles in your neighbourhood,” says Capt Wollie Fourie, spokesperson of the Da Gamaskop Police.
