MOSSEL BAY NEWS - This month, aspiring artists, those who want to learn more or who have always been interested in some form of artwork, will not be disappointed.
There are so many exhibitions and workshops during the Mossel Bay Arts Festival, they will be spoilt for choice.

Here are some of the treats to enjoy.
- Dubbeldoor: Artist Kobus Spies (paintings) and Minda du Plessis (ceramics) join their creative forces at the gallery of the Town’s House, Market Street in Dubbeldoor. The exhibition starts on Friday, 4 August from 12:00. Entry is free. Thereafter, 7-8 August, as well as 10-11 August.
- Dubbeldoor and guest artist: During the exhibition, writer Tania Smit (Hekelwoorde) will be the guest speaker on 5 August, at the Town’s House. The event starts at 10:00. Smit will be at the Town's House for another engagement on 9 August. Both events start at 10:00. To book, contact Marianne (084 479 2166).
- Art for all – Plein air workshops: Reni Seabourne offers a range of art workshops throughout the month from 3 to 26 August at various venues. No art skills needed, but let your journey begin with Reni (063 617 5533).
- Open day for upcoming artists: Calling all artists to show off their art at 3 Malva Road (above old Traveller’s Pub), Dana Bay, on 5 August. Contact Charmain for more information (083 576 0399). Here are also daily arts exhibitions. Contact Naas Knoetze (083 444 0169 / 072 354 9343).
- Art in the park. Every sunday in August: Yet another opportunity to showcase and enjoy art: Harry Giddey Park. Pack a picnic basket.
For art lovers who love walking
- Art walk: From 4 August onwards, including every Friday until the end of the Arts Festival on 3 September, Tiaan Zietsman is hosting an Art walk through Mossel Bay, visiting art galleries and coffee shops. No skill needed – just comfy walking shoes, stamina and pocket money.
Music, drama, art galore
- Art and music in the town hall: Well-known musician Frans Brits, starting Saturday, 5 August, is hosting a special visual arts and music event in the Mossel Bay Town Hall. Contact Frans for more information and how to participate (076 561 6290 / 071 342 7325).
- Iconic art splash: The Mossel Bay Creative Culture Association is an umbrella body for performing artists in Mossel Bay.
Over the years, the association has been at the forefront of performing at festivals and bringing together artists from across the greater Mossel Bay to showcase their unique talents.
The Iconic art splash is a variety event hosted at Marguerite Coffee and Art Café on Saturday, 5 August.
Similar events will be hosted every Saturday throughout August and will conclude on 2 September in the Harry Giddey Park, in collaboration with the Mossel Bay Municipality’s Local Economic Development Office, which will be hosting a community market.
