Pieter Myburgh (53) from George, a sub-contractor delivering newspapers and magazines, was taken to the George Mediclinic with head injuries where he passed away two hours later.
The accident happened 3km from the Glentana off-ramp in the direction of George on Tuesday afternoon just after 14:00.
His assistant sustained light injuries.
Metro Emergency Services and ER24 were on the scene.
Myburgh has been chairman of the two pigeon bodies for the past eight years.
