MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Gaynor Canning of Mossel Bay had one of the best birthday treats of her life when she went on the Mossel Bay Zipline today, Monday, 17 February.
Today is her 92nd birthday.
Mossel Bay boasts the longest oversea zipline ride in the world. The start is at the Point in Mossel Bay, near the landmark St Blaize Lighthouse and St Blaize Cave.
The Zipline Company gave Gaynor the ride for free as a gift.
"I'm not nervous at all," Gaynor told the Mossel Bay Advertiser before her ride. She had a group of friends supporting her and she had onlookers at the zipline enthralled at her guts and bravery.

Everyone at the zipline landing sang "Happy Birthday" to her.
When she landed, Gaynor said: "That was awesome!"
Just before her ride, the wind came up and there were a few drops of rain but that did not spoil it for her. "The wind made me feel as if I was really doing something," she said, indicating that besides going forward, she also swung from side to side.
Gaynor did not go on her own. She did a tandem ride with one of the zipline personnel.
The 92 year old was extremely grateful to the Zipline Company for her free ride: "A million thanks for this fab birthday present. I can't thank you enough for this wonderful opportunity. God bless."
She said she would go back to the retirement village she lives in, Santos Haven, and recommend to everyone there that they take a zipline ride.
Gaynor has bungee jumped before and she has also done a tandem skydive.
She is the oldest lady so far to ride the zipline.
A few weeks ago a 92-year-old man went on the zipline.
