EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - There are currently 5 active fires in the Eden district.
The Joint Operations Centre (JOC) at Eden District Municipality is still activated, and a follow-up JOC meeting will convene on 9 November 2017 at 11:00.
The chopper has been grounded due to weather conditions.
Information was sourced from role-players on the ground, who include: Eden District Municipality, farmers, SANParks, WoF, Cape Nature, MTO and PG Bison.
Firefighters currently deployed in the district include:
• 5 from Eden District Municipality
• 30 from Mountain to Ocean (MTO)
• 44 from WoF (Working on Fire)
• 11 from Cape Nature
• 8 from SANParks
• 1 from SCFPA
The current Incident Commander is Mr Johan Brand, Eden District Municipality Station Officer.
He said: “Most of the fires are contained and mopping-up operations are in process."
