Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - While there is no estimate on the cost of damages caused by the Mossel Bay wildfires between 5 and 10 January, it has been confirmed that a total of 12 houses were destroyed.
The Mossel Bay Municipality said 11 houses in Vakansieplaas (Vogelsang Estate) and one in Island View were ravaged.
No municipal infrastructure was damaged, but the municipality could not comment on the estimated damage to private properties.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
The municipality added that it is not allowed to do work on private property, therefore any rehabilitation, if required, is not a municipal responsibility and should be undertaken by the respective property owners.
