MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The fires in Mossel Bay the last few days have thus far affected an area of about 23 square kilometres.
The Mossel Bay Municipality shared footage taken from a helicopter this afternoon, Friday, 9 January, showing the burn scar in Aalwyndal, Vakansieplaas, Island View and surrounding areas.
According to its latest update, there are currently no active fires and crews are continuing mopping up operations and monitoring hotspots.
The municipality said the flight which enabled it to take footage from the air, was courtesy of Mossel Bay Helicopters, whose founder, the late Kobus Crous Snr, “never hesitated to assist during aerial firefighting and offering humanitarian aid during crisis situations all over the Southern Cape and Karoo region”.
