MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Advertiser Oliver Twist project is helping to raise funds for the KwaNonqaba Police Station Victim Support Centre.
The Oliver Twist Project manager, Shirley Coetzee, was given a list of items required for the centre by the KwaNonqaba Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairman Edgar Ntebe.
Ntebe said the Victim Support Centre urgently needed a makeover.
He said the walls and roof needed insulation and proper covering.
The floors needed carpets and the reception area needed chairs, a coffee table, toys for children, a coffee maker, a water dispenser and a small fridge.
Ntebe said a mat was required for the bathroom, as well as toiletries and hand towels. Blinds or curtains were needed for the windows of the centre. A security door was needed for the entrance.
Ntebe explained that the CPF was responsible for the Victim Support service and for the Victim Support Centre at the police station.
During 2019 the Garden Route Casino Community Trust sponsored a new Wendy house for the Victim Support Centre at the station, but the Wendy house needed to be kitted out.
He said the Victim Support Centre offered crucial support and counselling to the community. He explained that those working at the centre did so voluntarily.
If you are able to donate an item for the centre, contact Shirley Coetzee (084 557 1126).
