MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Ten years of excellence - that is what the Mossel Bay Business Chamber is celebrating this year. The culmination of a decade of hard work will be showcased at a gala event on 6 September at the Diaz Hotel in Mossel Bay.
Nicky Weimar, Nedbank's senior economist since 2000, will be the guest speaker. At this event, the Chamber wants to honour businesses in Mossel Bay that are committed to service excellence and that believe in giving back to the community and it is calling for nominees in various different business categories. Nominations for Business Person of the Year will also be welcomed.
Through this competition, every business in Mossel Bay gets the opportunity to showcase its uniqueness, abilities and the impact it makes on the town's economy.
The awards also seek to inspire budding entrepreneurs to exceed the achievements of those who traversed the road before them. A business owner can nominate his or her own business.
Categories
Awards will be made in three categories: The small business category is for businesses with a turnover of up to R5 million per year; the medium business category for those with a turnover of between R5 million and R15 million; and the large business category for those with a minimum turnover of R15 million. There is also a corporate section for national organisations.
Closing date is 30 August
The committee has also invited nominations for special awards for the Business Person of the Year as well as organisations involved in community projects.
Nomination forms are available on the website or call 064 803 3303. Forward nominations to admin@mosselbaychamber.co.za by 30 August.
Judging
In order to compare businesses fairly, the judges will be taking the following into consideration: Community impact, motivation, personal qualifications, leadership skills and growth.
An easy to complete nomination form is available from the Chamber's administration office or on the website (www.mosselbaychamber.co.za).
The nominated company must be a member of the Mossel Bay Business Chamber and registered as a company in South Africa. The person nominating the business must also be a member of the Chamber. The entrepreneur section is excluded from this.
Every entry must include a short CV of the nominee, the number of years that the business has been in operation as well as a motivation as to why the company or individual is nominated. All finalists must attend the gala on 6 September. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
