The local band, the Grootbrak brass band, won the competition last year and most of the trophies last year.
The winning band of the 2023 regional brass band competition was the Young Coronations from Suurbraak in the Overberg.
Second place went to the Young Royal Shepherds from Heidelberg and third place, St Moses from Zoar, a small town between Ladismith and Calitzdorp.
The Grootbrak brass band came fourth overall this year.
The tiny tots, junior and senior groups were judged in the following categories: best-dressed squad, grand march squad, grand march drum major and best-dressed drum major. The seniors had an additional category, "prescribed piece solo".
Dee Disney, secretary of the Grootbrak brass band and a founding member of the band, said: "The standard was very high. The Grootbrak brass band only managed to win four trophies this time. It rained and the wind was terrible; they had to march and play in the rain at times; very difficult conditions. The winners really deserved to win."
