MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The mystery of the new, wooden containers which have been placed in the Point area in Mossel Bay, has been solved.

The Mossel Bay Municipality confirmed the containers will be for doggy poo bags. Municipal spokesperson Nickey le Roux says the municipality will soon put up the necessary signage and will then supply the bags.

"They are being put up in response to the requests we received from dog owners, and because of complaints of pet owners not cleaning up after their dogs." Le Roux says the municipality encourages dog owners to adhere to the rules, such as keeping their dogs on leashes and cleaning up their dogs' poo.

"Increasingly, the municipality is facing problems with people who allow their dogs to swim in the tidal pool at the Point. Residents are again advised that dogs are not allowed in the pool."
