MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Whale Rally starts on Friday, 15 June at the ATKV resort in Hartenbos and rally revellers will enjoy mild weather for the rest of the weekend.
Highlights on the rally calendar include the Miss and Mrs Whale Rally competitions tonight, Friday 15 June, the mass ride into Mossel Bay on Saturday morning and the concourse show and shine competition on Saturday afternoon.
Mr Whale Rally and Miss Jeans are on Saturday night. There will also be lucky draws, games and live music.
There is always a laid-back, sociable atmosphere at the resort, where braai fires, long chats and downing a few "cold ones" are the order of the day.
If the brrmm brrmm noise gets to you, remember the Ulysses Motorcycle Club Garden Route chapter which hosts the Whale Rally is a registered charity which supports many worthy charities on the Garden Route including pre-schools, senior citizen's homes, animal conservation centres and the Garden Route SPCA.
It was reported on Wednesday, 13 June that a Southern right whale and a humpback whale were seen frolicking in the bay of Mossel Bay, so it seems it is not only the bikers having a whale of a time at the moment and bikers may have the added bonus of seeing these huge mammals in the bay.
For more information on the Whale Rally contact Ulysses secretary Peggy Roux (072 929 5510) or road captain Leon Stander (082 372 9145). Roux thanked all the motorcyclists who are attending the rally, all those involved in organising the rally and the Hartenbos community for its kind co-operation.
