MOSSELBAAI NUUS - Mosselbaai is weer bekroon met 5 Blouvlagstrande, te wete Santosstrand, De Bakke, Klein-Brakrivierstrand, Hartenbosstrand, en Glentana Strand.
Om te bewys dat Mosselbaai ernstig is oor ons Blouvlag-status, word inwoners en vakansiegangers uitgedaag om asseblief by te dra tot die etos van volhoubaarheid deur verkieslik na die strande te stap om só ons omgewingsimpak te beperk.
Die Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) het sy lys van Blouvlagstrande vir 2021 pas bekendgestel. In totaal is 48 plekke op die finale lys, met 'n meerderheid van die gesogte toekennings in die Wes-Kaap.
Die Blouvlag-toekenning is 'n manier om plaaslike en buitelandse besoekers te verseker dat geakkrediteerde strande skoon, veilig en, bowenal omgewingsveilig, is.
Die Blouvlag is 'n sertifisering van die Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) dat 'n strand aan sy standaarde voldoen. FEE se Blouvlag-kriteria bevat standaarde vir gehalte, veiligheid, omgewingsopvoeding en -inligting, die deurentydse lewering van dienste en algemene omgewingsbestuurskriteria.
Die Blouvlag is gesogte erkenning vir strande, seiljagklubs en toeriste-operateurs vir volhoubare bootvaart as 'n aanduiding van hul hoë omgewings- en gehalte standaarde.
Mossel Bay again boasts five blue flag beaches
Mossel Bay has again been awarded 5 Blue Flag beaches, namely Santos Bech, De Bakke, Klein-Brak Beach, Hartenbos Beach, and Glentana Beach.
To prove that Mossel Bay is serious about our Blue Flag status, please contribute to the ethos by rather walking to the beaches to minimise the environmental impact.
The Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) has compiled its list of Blue Flag beaches for 2021. In total, 48 locations make the final cut, with most of the prestigious accolades going towards the Western Cape.
The Blue Flag award is a way of informing local and foreign visitors that accredited beaches are clean, secure and most importantly environmentally safe.
The Blue Flag is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that a beach meets its standards. FEE's Blue Flag criteria include standards for quality, safety, environmental education and information, the provision of services and general environmental management criteria.
The Blue Flag is sought for beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators as an indication of their high environmental and quality standards.
