MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The KwaNonqaba Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the death of three-year-old Lithabo Magoda.

Lithabo died at approximately 16:45 on 6 June when he was struck by a taxi at the intersection of Ndibaniso and Vukani streets. Young Lithabo lived in Vukani Street. 

The taxi is contracted to transport school children.

It is alleged that the three-year-old and an eleven-year-old child disembarked from the taxi and crossed in front of the taxi to walk to the other side of the road. The driver of the taxi allegedly did not notice Lithabo when he pulled away after dropping off the children. Emergency personnel were deployed immediately, but the toddler was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

The driver of the taxi handed himself over to the KwaNonqaba Police. Police have impounded the taxi. Anyone with information is requested to call the investigating officer, WO Geoffery Moos (044 606 6500).
