MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Erika Primary School the school community are mourning the death of their beloved administrative clerk, Lisa Dirkse.
Dirkse passed away in a vehicle accident on the Outeniqua Pass near George on Thursday, 14 April.
According to a preliminary investigation, seven passengers escaped with minor to moderate injuries in the accident that involved two vehicles and a bakkie.
Another woman, Eneth Okkies, also died in the accident.
Principal of the school, Miriam Fielies, told the Mossel Bay Advertiser that Dirkse was involved with Erika Primary for more than a decade. She said the words "friendly, beautiful, sparkling" had been mentioned in abundance since Dirkse's passing, by all who knew her.
"She was a huge asset not only to the school but the circuit management of our area as well."
Fielies said Dirkse joined the school after a successful career at Absa.
"She brought with her great professionalism in her work as the face and voice of Erika Primary School."
Judging from the outpouring of emotion in cards from the learners on display in the school reception area, it is clear that Dirkse will leave a terrible void.
Fielies said that Dirkse celebrated her 48th birthday on 12 April.
"She was offered leave on her birthday, but decided to rather use it to attend a church conference in Colesberg during the Easter Weekend."
Dirkse was on her way to the conference when the fatal accident occurred.
Dirkse leaves behind a son and a daughter.
