GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Two Recce Story Evenings will take place on 15 and 16 October at the MOTH Shellhole in George.
They are being presented by the South African Special Forces Association, Fort Outeniqua branch. Headquarters in Pretoria will also be represented at the two evenings.
"These occasions will focus on the dramatic events and the amazing achievements of the recces prior to and during Operation Amazon and will include explanations of the reconnaissance, planning, preparation and attack phases leading up to the final result of the operation at the oil storage facilities and the cement factory in Lobito Harbour, Angola," according to the organiser.
The programme is as follows:
16:30 : Welcome
16:40 : Short history of the South African Special Forces
17:00 : James Teitge on the reconnaissance for the operation
17:30 : Break for supper
18:30 : James Teitge on the execution of the operation
19:30 : Auction : main item - Bowie knife
The venue, the Outeniqua MOTH Shellhole, is at the corner of Rijk Tulbach Street and De Chevonne Avenue, Loerie Park, George.
The cost is R250 per person (entry fee and supper included). There will be a cash bar.
Dress code: Smart / informal.
Advance bookings with payment are required. You will be issued with an e-ticket for the event once proof of payment has been received.
All payments must be completed within three days after registering online. No refunds will be made if cancellation is within three days of the event.
