MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The annual Polar Plunge will be taking place at the Mossel Bay Point tidal pool on Saturday, 21 July.
This local plunge forms part of the national Round Table Winter Knights charity event.
During this event, brave Round Tablers and members of the public line up on the wall of the tidal pool and jump into the freezing cold water at night.
They are cheered on by family, friends and other charitable persons, who donate clothes, non-perishable foods, blankets and cash for distribution to the needy during the winter.
The event on 21 July takes place from 17:00 and culminates in the plunge at 20:00.
The national round table initiative is conducted in partnership with Toyota.
Round Table spokesperson Paul Hoeksema says: "We aim to reduce the effects of the cold on less fortunate communities.
"We will also be selling rubber ducks to be released into the pool at the event. The ducks have been numbered and there will be lucky draws and great prizes."
