MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two armed robbers made off with close to R500 000 after they ambushed delivery personnel who were doing a dispatch at the Powertrade premises in KwaNonqaba early on Monday morning, 14 May.
According to information received from the KwaNonqaba police, the armed robbers overpowered the delivery personnel who called at Powertrade on Monday, 14 May to deliver cigarettes.
One of the personnel had remained in the delivery vehicle. When the other personnel emerged from the business premises after the delivery, they were overpowered by the armed robbers. One of the personnel managed to wrestle a weapon from one of the robbers, and this weapon was later recovered by the police.
The robbers threatened the driver of the delivery vehicle and instructed him to drive off in the direction of Cape Town. On the way to the Casino Road intersection, the robber exited the delivery vehicle and fled the scene in a white Hyundai with a Cape Town registration number. The robbers escaped with a red rucksack containing R495 000.
The delivery personnel then immediately drove to the KwaNonqaba Police Station nearby, where they reported the robbery.
