MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Municipality is implementing an additional means of communication to better inform municipal account holders of the amounts payable on their accounts. An SMS will be sent by approximately the 25th of each month stating the current amount payable by the due date as well as any arrear amounts, where applicable.

Mossel Bay Municipality revised its meter reading routes and schedule for the December 2018 / January 2019 holiday season, but went back to the normal schedule dates from January 2019.
Due to monitoring measures put in place, the meter reading success rate is currently approaching 94%.
This is a clear indication that estimations have been kept to a minimum and actual meter readings and correct billing processes are in place.
In order to achieve as close to 100% as possible, the municipality appeals to residents to assist the meter readers in terms of gaining access to properties to take actual readings.
The main reasons for not reading a meter include, but are not limited to, meters that are underground, properties that are locked or inaccessible due to locked gates, various obstructions, dogs and meters covered by overgrown vegetation.
Responsibility
Remember that, according to the municipal bylaw, property owners are responsible for keeping their meters accessible and in working order and for reporting any faults or problems to the municipality immediately.
Residents who wish to log their own meter readings can call 076 795 0096 during office hours in the week the meter readers are in their area as per the set meter reading schedule below:
- Area 1: Glentana to Great Brak River (including Friemersheim), 13th – 15th of each month
- Area 2: Tergniet to Little Brak River, 18th – 19th of each month
- Area 3: From Little Brak River and the residential areas east and north of the industrial area (including Ruiterbos and Brandwag), 20th – 25th of each month
- Area 4: Industrial area and Mossel Bay town to Heiderand, 26th – 28th of each month
- Area 5: D'Almeida to Vleesbaai (including KwaNonqaba, Asla Park, Herbertsdale, Buisplaas and Boggomsbaai), 1st – 11th of each month.
