MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay will form part of the Western Cape Blood Service’s (WCBS) blood donation drive called Red Saturday on 25 November.
As WCBS prepares for increased demand on the blood supply during the festive season, they urge the community to give the extraordinary gift of life.
Marike Carli, public relations manager at WCBS, emphasises that, by donating one unit of blood, you have the power to save up to three lives.
Red Saturday strategically coincides with the frenzy of consumers seeking Black Friday deals. On this day, WCBS will set up donation stations at ten participating malls, aiming to collect 1 000 units of blood and welcome 300 new donors on a single day.
Join WCBS from 09:00 to 16:00 at any of the following ten participating malls:
- Langeberg Mall - Mossel Bay
- Blue Route Mall – Tokai
- Kenilworth Centre - Kenilworth
- Bayside Mall – Table View
- N1 City Mall - Goodwood
- Tyger Valley Shopping Centre - Bellville
- CapeGate Shopping Centre - Brackenfell
- Liberty Promenade – Mitchell’s Plain
- Somerset Mall – Somerset West
- Whale Coast Mall – Hermanus
"We appeal to the community to join us on Red Saturday,” says Carli. “There is no better special than being able to give one donation and save three lives."
If you are between 16 and 75 years old, weigh 50kg or more, are in good general health and lead a safe sexual lifestyle, you should be eligible to donate.
