MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Xtreme for Kids cycle tour in aid of the Matla a Bana children's charity stopped in Mossel Bay on Wednesday, 4 March, as part of its 2 000km journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
The cyclists travel this immense distance in just 11 days and will complete their tour by participating in the Cape Town Cycle Tour on 8 March. The Matla a Bana charity aims to reduce the secondary trauma victims of child sexual abuse experience when they report the crime.
The charity creates victim-friendly trauma rooms at police stations, courts and hospitals and trains police officers in the soft skills needed to deal sensitively with victims.
It also provides comfort packs to children when they report crimes and host education programmes at schools.
On Thursday the tour members visited Ridgeview Primary School and Garden Route Primary School.
The fundraising goal for this year's cycle tour is R250 000. Visit www.matlaabana.co.za to donate and help the cyclists reach their goal.
