GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - On 4 August the newly-appointed Correctional Services coordinator of security in the Western Cape, Zweli Sofuthe, opened the vaccination site at Mossel Bay Correctional Services and welcomed all the roleplayers and Health Department personnel involved.

Sofuthe is currently the head of the Correctional Services Centre and has been promoted and will take up his new position soon.

He encouraged the prisoners there to take the vaccine to protect themselves against the virus. Some of the offenders were sceptical about the vaccine.

Amos Kibido, Correctional Services acting health manager: Southern Cape, thanked Sofuthe and his team for the warm welcome they received and started the proceedings. The nurses who administered the vaccines were Anthony le Roux and Vernon Jaer of the Correctional Services Department.
