MOSSELBAY NEWS - Since the article about stranded young African penguins was published in the Mossel Bay Advertiser two weeks ago, seven little penguins were rescued along the coast.
Carol Walton of the Seabird and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre (SAPREC) and the centre volunteers are excited about the excellent response from readers and thank everyone on the lookout for this endangered species.
With the stormy seas and cold fronts hitting hard at the moment, more stranded birds will be on beaches and an urgent call to be on the lookout for stranded birds is being made. If you see a bird, call Carol (082 364 3382) immediately for assistance.
Another request from SAPREC is that it is urgently in need of second hand towels. If the public, guest houses or hotels in the area can assist, contact Carol.
