"Going forward, the province will be placing an Admin Mark on the eNaTIS records of anyone with an outstanding warrant of arrest for a traffic offence," Carlisle said in a statement last week. Warrants of arrest are only issued when an individual ignores a traffic fine and misses two court dates.
Individuals with an Admin Mark will not be able to conduct any transactions with eNaTIS, until they have cleared up the matter with the traffic official who requested it.
This means individuals will be prevented from:
- Renewing their driving licence.
- Registering a vehicle in their name or obtaining a licence disk for a registration renewal.
- Obtaining a roadworthy certificate.
- Transferring a vehicle registration.
If you would like to find out if there are any outstanding warrants of arrest for you, please phone the George Traffic Department at 044 878 2400 or go to www.payfine.co.za.
If you see fines that are no longer payable, this means a warrant of arrest may have been issued, and you are urged to approach your nearest Traffic Department immediately to resolve the matter.
Fines can also be paid online to avoid the situation of facing arrest.
