MOSSEL BAY NEWS and VIDEO - The incoming tide is causing delays in the opening of the Hartenbos River mouth as the municipal equipment cannot safely reach the beach.
Mossel Bay municipality is about to open the river mouth as an emergency measure as water levels in the river is rising.
Residents living on the banks of the river fear their properties may be flooded as more heavy rain is forecast for the area.
The decision was made to postpone the work on the estuary until tomorrow morning.
Municipal teams of the disaster management unit will monitor water levels overnight.
It is expected that work will commence early tomorrow morning.
