MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Despite being inundated with requests for scenic flights over Mossel Bay over the festive season, Mossel Bay Helicopters, owned by Kobus Crous Snr, did not hesitate to make an octogenarian's day.
Local pianist Annette Strydom received a phone call from her friend, Glynis Flores, acting chairperson of the management committee of Benevolent Park, who said one of the residents, Anne Basson (82), had a special wish. Auntie Anne, as she is known, said that before she passes away, she would like to see Mossel Bay from above. Annette made work of this request and spoke to Lizelle Crous, Kobus's wife, telling her of Auntie Anne's lifelong wish.
"I asked Lizelle if they could sponsor Auntie Anne's 'flight of her life' and she agreed without hesitation," Annette says.
Auntie Anne's wish was granted on 27 December at 16:30. She enjoyed a beautiful scenic flight of approximately 20 minutes from Hartenbos to Pinnacle Point.
Despite her age, Auntie Anne approached the helicopter without fear at all and keenly got into the front seat next to the young pilot, Duan Gous.
Needless to say, she was thrilled upon her return and could hardly wait to tell her friends about her fabulous adventure.
"A warm thank you to Mossel Bay Helicopters for making it possible for a senior citizen to have 'the flight of her life'," Annette says.
