MOSSEL BAY NEWS - At 12:50 today, Friday 22nd February, NSRI Mossel Bay duty crew were placed on alert following reports from MRCC of a 189 meter bulk carrier requiring a patient evacuation of a Ukranian adult crewman suffering chest pains.
The ship was requested to head towards Mossel Bay and once in the Bay, off-shore of the Mossel bay harbour, NSRI launched the sea rescue craft Rescue 15 and St Blaze Rescuer accompanied by By Grace ambulance services paramedics.
The NSRI rendezvoused with the ship off-shore of Mossel Bay harbour and the paramedic and an NSRI rescue swimmer were transferred onto the ship.
The patient was found to be in a stable condition, walking wounded, and he was transferred onto the sea rescue craft and brought to shore. He has been transported to hospital by By Grace ambulance for further medical care.
