MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality has employed several mitigating measures to limit the need for community interaction and to ensure the safety and welfare of both the residents and municipal personnel while maintaining a keen focus on continuous and effective service delivery during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Essential services will be rendered per the normal schedule.
Some non-essential services are suspended forthwith and direct contact with personnel is discouraged and/or limited until 20 April 2020.
This date may be revised depending on the national state of disaster as announced by President Ramaphosa on 15 March.

The following essential services in the Infrastructure Directorate will continue over the next three weeks:
Water and sewerage purification plants
All plants will be maintained and operated by superintendents, process controllers and assistants on a full-time basis.
Water and sewerage distribution networks
- All network complaints/queries will be handled by superintendents and artisan plumbers stationed at the Schoeman Street (Mossel Bay), Hartenbos and Great Brak River depots.
- Sewerage suction requests will be logged at the superintendent’s office in Schoeman Street.
- Night soil bucket removals are handled by Moreki Distributors.
Electrical services
- All electrical network faults, street lighting and meter-related complaints will be handled by the electrical superintendents, electricians and assistants who are stationed at the Schoeman Street and Great Brak River depots.
- No new services will be provided during the lockdown period.
- All service-related complaints/queries between 07:45 and 16:15 must be reported to the Infrastructure Services enquiry clerks at the following contact numbers: electricity complaints: 044 6065086; water and sewerage complaints: 044 6065117.
Libraries
All libraries are closed. Library material will automatically be renewed until 30 April.
Community Halls
No bookings will be accepted for community halls. Existing bookings will be cancelled.
Sports facilities
No bookings will be accepted for sports facilities. Existing bookings will be cancelled.
Cashier services (Finance, Traffic departments)
Cashiers are closed. Residents are requested to preferably pay accounts by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

Environmental Services

Drivers and learners' licences
Closed - to reschedule appointments.
- Basic service delivery, such as refuse collection will continue as usual and on the usual delivery days.
- IDP / Budget Imbizos - no public meetings will take place. The municipality will make its draft budget and IDP available through other channels.
- Cemeteries - will remain open with the number of people limited to 100 people at the gravesite.
- Client Services - Clients are requested to direct enquiries either through 044 606 5000 or admin@mosselbay.gov.za.
