MOSSEL BAY NEWS - An elderly couple from Dana Bay were held up in their home by armed robbers from about 21:00 on Wednesday 13 January to about 02:00 the next morning.
Three armed suspects gained access to the couple's home in P Speciosa Street, Dana Bay, surprising them while they were watching television.
According to the KwaNonqaba Police, the suspects gained access to the property through a bathroom window.
The suspects, armed with a knife, a panga and a firearm, respectively, demanded money from the victims. They assaulted the man and tied up both victims. According to the KwaNonqaba Police, the woman was forced to open the safe and the suspects fled with six firearms, jewelry and liquor at approximately 02:00 on 14 January.
While escaping through the bathroom window, the suspects dropped one of the firearms.
"The elderly man sustained light injuries and his wife is severely traumatised as a result of the incident," said KwaNonqaba police spokesperson, Sgt Kappie Kapp.
"We are urgently looking for any information that could lead to an arrest being made. There are no identikits available at present. Any person who can assist, can call the investigation officer, Sgt Lindie van Loggerenberg (079 894 1599)."
Mossel Bay Advertiser contacted the victims, but due to the traumatic nature of their experience, they declined to speak to the media.
