MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Following the murder of Yolin Kannemeyer in Extension 8, community members there decided to get actively involved in the neighbourhood watch system.
After the brutal incident, during which Kannemeyer's intimate partner allegedly beat her to death, an urgent meeting was called on Sunday, 30 May at 16:00.
By 18:00, a new neighbourhood watch with 10 active members was formed with an interim chair and vice chair appointed.
The Da Gamaskop Community Policing Forum chairman, Philip Mattheus arranged for donations of the necessary kit, including reflector jackets, which were handed out to the neighbourhood watch members.
The watch conducted its first patrol on 4 June, accompanied by the Da Gamaskop police.
