MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The 34-year-old Mlondi Ntlangulela who axed Mossel Bay resident Naledi Phangindawo (26) to death in June 2020, was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in the Mossel Bay Regional Court today, Friday, 21 January.
Naledi, a mother of three, was attacked by Ntlangulele, who is also the father of her children, without any warning when he hacked her repeatedly over her entire body, including her face.
She was murdered while attending a cultural function in KwaNonqaba.
Ntlangulela fled the scene when the ambulance arrived and later handed himself over to the Lwandle police in Cape Town.
Naledi was declared dead on arrival at the Mossel Bay provincial hospital.
Her family is still trying to pick up the pieces.
Her sister, Yashika Phangindawo, previously told the Mossel Bay Advertiser that the death had taken a heavy toll on the health of their parents.
Corne Pretorius was the state prosecutor in the case.
