MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Joint Operations Centre (JOC), a security hub, which aims to combat crime in Mossel Bay, is a public-private partnership run by Mossel Bay Municipality.
It is the result of the initial steps taken to grow community safety in Mossel Bay.
The JOC has been hailed as being exemplary for the whole province.
This week, the Mossel Bay Municipality welcomed the mayors, municipal managers and portfolio chairs for Community Safety from 15 municipalities in the province for an IMPS Western Cape workshop.
IMPS-SA stands for Institute for Municipal Public Safety Southern Africa.
Senior management of IMPS Western Cape and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) are attending the workshop, which started today, 19 April, and ends on Friday, 21 April.
"Mossel Bay is incredibly proud to host the Inaugural Institute for Municipal Public Safety of Southern Africa’s Western Cape Forum.
"We welcome the respective stakeholders of the Western Cape’s municipal community safety sector, our municipal managers, the mayors, managers and other staff to our iconic Mossel Bay," says Mossel Bay mayor Dirk Kotzé.
"This three-day workshop is intended to take the first steps toward collaborating and an opportunity to set clear and common standards.
"Significantly, IMPS-SA has confirmed that the Western Cape's strategic objectives align with and fit within the parameters of its constitution. This is an incredible opportunity for Mossel Bay and the Garden Route to show its capacity to support the heartbeat of the Western Cape’s security."
