MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Mossel Bay's Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services are the first in the Western Cape to have acquired the latest version of Lukas E3 eDraulic rescue equipment.
The equipment, used in instances of entrapment, is a major upgrade in terms of technology compared to the traditional, older hydraulic rescue equipment.

Jimmy Croucamp from Fremtac Fire and Rescue visited the Mossel Bay fire station on Tuesday, 9 May, where crew members were given practical training in using the equipment. The equipment includes a spreader, cutter and ram bar.
A vehicle wreck was used during the training session, allowing crew members to put the equipment to the test. Among the exciting features is that the equipment is waterproof up to three metres and saltwater compatible. The equipment is battery operated, with a backup electrical power battery supply.
"This is the future," said Croucamp during the presentation and congratulated Mossel Bay Municipality on acquiring this state-of-the-art equipment.'
There was a celebratory atmosphere at the fire station on Tuesday, 9 May.
