MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Western Cape Minister of Community Safety and Police Oversight, Minister Reagan Allen was the guest of honour and key note speaker at a fund raiser today, 25 June,hosted by a the neighbourhood watch in Extension 13.
Allen was invited by Westridge Eyes in the Wood.
He pointed out the importance of Youth Day and Father’s Day, because the lack of male role models and its impact is wreaking havoc in terms of the youth falling into social ills like gangsterism.
“Men, you matter. We need you to be role models.”
Allen added that there are more known drug houses in the Western Cape, than schools.
“We must stop making excuses. It’s tough, but if we become the role models, it will become easier for the next generation.” Allen implored his audience, consisting of members in the safety sector and the general public, to be mindful of their example.
“We must do everything in our power to make a joint effort towards the safety of our communities. Everybody must play their role. Then we will see success.”
Allen commended the Mossel Bay Municipality for their effort towards community safety. Later today, Allen will be moving around with some of the neighbourhood watch groups and tomorrow, 26 June, he will visit the Joint Operation Centre.
