MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Dr Ivan Meyer today, 3 September visited the joint operation centre in Mossel Bay, which will serve as a hub for integrated services toward securing sustainable safety in the greater Mossel Bay.
The centre is currently under construction and due for completion in December 2021.
In March this year, the municipality launched its Community Safety Forum, an event that saw comprehensive representation from role-players in the safety sector.
Accompanying the Meyer on his visit to Mossel Bay and a walk through of the JOC facility situated at the Mossel Bay Gholf Club, was a Taiwanese delegation consisting of David Yontso Lin, Director General and Douglas Chang, First Assistant Director.
Councillor Leon van Dyk gave a comprehensive presentation on the safety plan driving the idea of the JOC. Head of Mossel Bay Disaster Management, Joseph Johnston and Director of Planning and Economic Development Carel Venter also made their insightful contribution to the presentation.
During the site visit Meyer commented that the project was world-class. The Taiwanese delegation commended the municipality for their vision and execution thereof, labelling it a great example of resource integration.
“We are proud of this initiative as it pitches Mossel Bay as a safe, smart ad innovative town. Ultimately, a centre like this empowers the citizens of a community,” Meyer concluded.
