MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Residents are requested to cooperate with the official inspections of the prepaid electricity meters at their dwellings.
Meter inspectors of Utilities World will be calling on homes in the greater Mossel Bay area to re-programme meters for the looming date rollover which necessitates a worldwide meter update of all STS pre-paid electricity meters.
They are also inspecting the meters for the correct functioning of the meters and any meter irregularities.
The meter inspectors will be wearing golf shirts that display VUT – Vernon's Utility Team. They do also wear reflective vests. They must be able to present their meter inspector ID cards with a colour photo of the bearer, identity number and name, and a municipal contact number in case of the customer wanting to confirm identities.
They also carry a letter from the municipality signed under authority of the municipal manager to perform the meter inspections, also available for inspection by the home owner\dweller.
Two meter inspectors work together as a team, so all homes will be visited by two identifiable persons at the time of the meter upgrade and inspection. Each team is made up of a male and female meter inspector.
The inspection teams work six days a week and homes are visited between the hours of 08:00 and 19:00, Monday to Friday and 08:00 and 13:00 on Saturday.
A home meter inspection lasts between five and 10 minutes. Photographs of the meters are also recorded on the mobile devices as a record of meter status.
