MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - The Cape Lifesaving Champs began in absolutely perfect weather conditions at Santos Beach today.
The champs are seen as a warm-up friendly for the National Championships to take place in Port Elizabeth from 1 to 4 April.
The Mossel Bay Advertiser spoke to the reigning world champion in flags and sprints, Ryle de Morny, who is from False Bay. He is here in town, taking place in the champs.
He said Mossel Bay always produced the best weather for lifesaving events.
The event was a chance for competitors to test their fitness levels and get their minds geared for more serious events in the year, he said.
De Morny scooped his accolades at the World Lifesaving Championships held in the Netherlands in 2016.
