Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A team of 14 firefighters from Riversdale ground crews have just arrived to assist with the operations in fighting the fire at Haelkraal.
In addition a fixed wing bomber is on scene and has just dropped its first load on the south-south eastern flank of the fire.
According to feedback the main focus is protecting the plantation and making the South South East flank safe.
Firefighters are employing a range of resources, among which a spotter-plane, a helicopter and two fixed wing water bombers as air support. Several ground crews are fighting the fire at several flanks,
Chopper and bombers are routed to the northern flank where the fire is running up the koppie and is already crowning. The helicopter and bombers managed to stop the fire from spreading in the pine plantation and ground crews have started with mopping-up operations.
