MOSSEL BAY NEWS - This crowning of Miss and Mr KwaNonqaba this year was a platform for models as young as six years.
Presented in the categories, Tiny, Junior and Teen, there was ample opportunity for the bright-eyed models to try to claim the top titles.
Vuyolwehtu Mfumbe, youth developer and multiple pageant title holder, said that the time is now in KwaNonqaba, especially to stand out for what is right, in light of violence and criminal activities at schools such as Indwe Secondary.
"We can make Kwa a better place, if we look into ourselves and realise that true beauty is our own happiness."
Mfumbe explained that the finalists, apart from having to show personality, stage presence and style, had to do charity work. It was compulsory. Participants who did their bit, immediately scored up to 50 points towards their total, depending on what they did.
He praised and encouraged parents for supporting their children. "It is your duty to let your kids live their dreams."
The winners: Mr Tiny - Simamnkele Mini Mfumbe, Miss Tiny - Siphosethu Makaola; Miss Junior - Lukhona Mbalo, Miss Teen - Thimna Swart, Miss KwaNonqaba - Andisiwe Niemand and Mr KwaNonqaba - Rayno Michaels.
Entertainers who kept the audience happy included Ingoma Brothers, Tebogo, Hustlers of Cash, C Breezy, Black Nation Crew and Trap Savage.
DJ Andy from George sponsored his services for the event. "I cannot thank all our sponsors and contributors enough for their support," Mfumbe said.
