MOSSEL BAY NEWS FLASH - A whale shark was found on the beach at Kanon, also known as Visbaai early on Wednesday afternoon.
Riekie van Rensburg, landowner in the area, who spotted the whale alerted rangers of the Fransmanshoek Conservancy to investigate and noticed that an arrow through the shark's skull, which is assumed to have been the cause of death.
The rangers also noticed that the shark's dorsal fin has been cut off.
"We are assuming that the shark must have been killed during the past two or three days as the wounds were still fresh with blood still visible," said Ruaan Barnard, Fransmanshoek Conservancy ranger.
